Portrait-2 of Ji-Longbo, a Chinese contemporary artist.

Ji Longbo

A contemporary artist who employs structural analysis and geometric reconstruction to create a dialogue between landscape imagery and art historical icons.

Ji Longbo was born in Shandong, China, in 1976. He studied at the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Fine Arts Department of Qufu Normal University. Based in Songzhuang, Beijing, he has been actively engaged in painting, curatorial projects, and contemporary art practice.

Since 2008, Ji has participated in numerous contemporary art exhibitions in China and abroad, with exhibitions held in Spain, South Korea, France, the United States, and Canada. In 2017, he presented his solo exhibition Cruel Entanglement. Alongside his artistic practice, he has also worked as an independent curator, organizing international cultural exchange exhibitions including Flowers of Iran.

Ji’s artistic practice centers on a method he describes as “structural analytical painting.” Through geometric reconstruction, spatial modeling, and the deconstruction of visual imagery, he creates a dual spiritual space between idealized mountain retreats and reinterpreted icons from art history. His work explores the psychological tension between withdrawal from the world and engagement with it, reflecting on the coexistence of idealism, reality, and cultural memory within the contemporary human condition.
